Subject: Digby Renders Alex and punters speechless

What a treat for the punters who were at Coogee last Monday night to watch the two best players in the Jock McLean, Digby and Alex, go head to head against each other. This matchup was eagerly anticipated by all who were there and no-one was disappointed. The expectation was high and both players produced a match that lived up to its billing, and some. It was the best game I've seen, it had all the ingredients that makes for a classic match. Cloak and dagger strategy, excruciating pressure, break building, sensational safety and two combatants with enormous mutual respect for the other. WHEW!!
I find some of your comments on the match puzzling with a hint of bias attached.
First, Digby got his revenge and silenced his critics. What critics? Anyone who knows the type of precision snooker Digby plays would not be a critic, more an admirer. Would he not? So it's obvious whoever was critical of him knows JACK about snooker! Who are these critics? If you have the balls to identify yourself, stand up and be counted and justify them. What better forum to do so!
What revenge? Has Alex defeated Digby previously? If not, there is no revenge to take!
Digby had a very nice slice of lady luck! Hardly! What game were you watching? Both players had a little bit of luck but it had absolutely no effect at all on the outcome! In fact Digby for some unknown reason opened the pack of reds in the third frame and left enough balls open presenting r Alex with a golden opportunity to win the frame, and match! Why? Was it his way of saying how good are you, show me what you've got? We'll have to ask him about that one. So I would say if there was any slice of luck, it definitley went to Alex!
This entry isn't intended to sound like a bias toward Digby, but in my opinion I think he deserved to win. Particularly after being a frame and 24 nil down in the second. I'm attempting to be accurate.
I have to give a special mention to the way Alex was humble in defeat. I'm sure both players got great satisfaction out of the match. There were no losers on the night! With the standard of snooker these guys play EVERYONE WAS A WINNER.
Anyhow, congratulations Alex and Digby for producing a fantastic exhibition of snooker for us that will linger with us for a while. I for one is still thinking about it.
