I am no expert, but I'm searching to answer the same question and this is what I've found. An undergraduate degree in the Behavioral Sciences (for example, Psychology or Sociology), and a graduate degree in Forensic Science, psychology, sociology, or med-school psychiatry. Then an internship period with law enforcement. If you're interested in working for the FBI than two years of work in the field is required before applying to the FBI. And working at Quantico's Behavioral Science Unit requires a PhD. I received the above information from the website http://xfiles.sandwich.net/info.htm
