Lithe golden stallion slinks into the terra, hard eyes glinting with anticipation on either side of his perfect stripe. Silken tail swishes behind him as he dances closer to the group of horses, customarily layed-back ears taking in the stallions speech.
Ugh...
He shudders, nausiated, then chuckles low to himself. Oh gods. What utter bull----. These creatures are unbelievable ... and I'm supposed to fight with them?
HUhn.
He snorts, and tossing his head pushes through the mares and foals to eyeball the lead.

[> ...all that glitters is not gold... -- C, 09:30:07 09/06/03 Sat [1]

...indeed the radiant shafts of light emitted by the burning globe of fire anchored in the morning sky produced an unmistakable image to any earth-inhabiting creature. as the slight breeze moved phlegmatically through the few trees and wrestled the water for a moment or two, from beyond the horizon appeared a gleaming bronze stallion who moved and spoke in a voice most characteristic to those of royals. perhaps here was their king, though who is C to know such things, having never actually seen one before. it was one of those moments where, for all you know, you could have been dreaming; imagining so many things that have only been legends to you before now. sure, he had often heard of kings and wars and the like, but never had he experienced a war or met a king. to him, the notion was quite unrealistic.

but times have changed.

as the firm ground basked in the sun's warmth, along with all of those reptiles who are unable to move until their body temperature is up to the right degree, the regal steed seemed to begin his speech. the words were strong, and in a manner, harsh, but C was not a colt who was unexperienced in the ways of life. the fact that he'd never "warred", persay, meant by no means that he was not learned in the art of war. if the king, whose name he was not familiar with, needed more participants in the contest of beliefs, this young mustang would not back down from the challenge.

stepping forth, the buckskin stood nearer, lobes swiveling to better capture the voice and allow his mind to discern the meaning from the words. the charcoal-hued tail snapped, accompanying a pesky fly from his rump to the wild blue yonder, and then he stood quiet, tranquil. it was the eery, calm feeling again, like the world was at peace, but prepared to unleash its fury at any moment...

I am willing to aid the Lights in any manner necessary. I have no family, few remaining friends, and, though no home (since Windy Glen ceased existing *grrr*), my beliefs are firm and set. I await your command.

...having spoken in an equally neutral voice, the steed turned to move off a ways and make room for others, ambling away towards the water at a slow, leisurely pace...

[> [> *Ray of Light* -- Prayer, 13:55:52 09/06/03 Sat [1]

A small nuzzle was spared for Dance, one meant to console the older filly. No, it definitely wasn't unusual for a foal to want their mothers when they most needed reassurance. But was it unusual when a foal didn't? This was the case for Prayer. She had effectively weaned herself from the need for her mother at a fairly early age. The wanderlust had always burned within her and was often obeyed in the company of her twin, Bright. All Prayer needed was the support of a few close friends and the leadership of someone she admired and she was good to go. Her trusting eyes said as much as they gazed upon Shaz.
