((Sorry! I scrolled up and caught C's description. Sorry 'bout the mix-up. And another oopsie on my part, the standoff point is SKB, not Frozen Lake as originally intended.))

He stood relaxed, his weight evenly distributed across three limbs, almost as if he was preparing for a conversation with a long time friend. His voice was quiet, reflective.

"My name is Shazaam and yes I am the 'head goodie' as you put it. I am the King of the Light horses. I do not advocate indescriminate, senseless slaughter. I firmly believe in defending one's self and protecting one's family and way of life."

At the final question, his voice grew softer.

"Why should you respect me? I would like to think that during my lifetime, I had earned the respect and trust of my fellow equines. Surely, if neither trust nor respect was present, the citizens of Cascade Mountains would never have let me ascend to the position that I now hold. Perhaps I should ask you to trust in me enough to see the end of the war. Maybe then I shall have earned your respect."

Feeling as if he had answered the questions to the best of his ability, he turned his attention to the voice coming from under the shrubbery.

"Battle should be coming soon enough. Please join the others in Sun-Kissed Beach when you are ready."

He laughs at the kings final statement, but his attitude now is less mocking and confrontational. A straight answer was what he was after, though the reply he got was not the right one.

Trust you? Never. Respect you? Not yet. But we shall see, shan't we?

He nods curtly, and turns to the bushes.

Coming, Soul? I fancy meeting up with our dragon friend on the way to the field ...

The leaves part, and the reptilian rauko slinks into view. Blacker than night, blacker than ebony, it seems to soak up the light as it moves toward the stallion, blunt head turning upward.

Soul knew to find Evil Horse here. How fares thee? Dost thou taste blood already? Soul would like to meet with Jess ... and perhaps Vulcan too. And fight.
