[> Temptation of turning tides -- Daughter of Light, 01:04:16 11/28/03 Fri [1]

In that brief instant, the tide had shifted into her favor. Though potentially his actions were clever trickery, the head Rebel was going down, temptingly vulnerable. The flaxen mare, whose marred pelt could only add to her innate nobility, whirled quickly on her haunches, but no trace of the pain the action caused crossed her determined features. A flash of regret crossed her eyes as her hooves seemed to move of their own accord; if she had one weakness, it was her mercy. The dame was a healer, not a killer; her duty was to help, not hurt. But taken in context, she was helping her fellow Lights and protecting her home. Thus justified, the stalwart defender drove ever onward, blind to all else but her consuming desire to prevent the plague of rebellion from spreading. Though the pair had previously had their differences, she felt no personal animosity towards one with different convictions, and a natural leader as well. Often, however, harsh means must be taken to achieve greater success: cripple the leader to cripple the army. Leaping forward, she harnessed her momentum into a focused drive at the stumbling stallion, fores steady to strike like vipers. From her perspective, there were two possible outcomes: he would surrender, or she would extract painful retribution for his trespassing.
