Author: Phoenix Ashes
Subject: A stallion
In reply to: (Shazaam)[Elven] 's message, "(And so I return)" on 23:13:21 07/21/03 Mon

Surrounded by mares, fillies, and a single colt, the short attention of Phoenix is quickly stolen by the arrival of the wet bay. Detaching himself from his mother's side and his acquaintance's presence, he lets his tiny unshod hooves carry him a miniature stride or two towards the stallion. He stares curiously, nostrils dialated to memorize the scent, until the large plush muzzle is pushed gently in his direction. After a moment's uncertain hesitation, the roan colt reaches out in kind, touching velvet noses before pulling back from the tickling whiskers. "Phoenix," he announces proudly, determined not to make the same mistake twice. Assuming by the lack of correction from his dam, who appeared to be trying to steal the attention of the stallion from him, Phoenix grins in smug pleasure. Taking a few more steps, he inspects Shazaam's large round hooves, comparing them silently to his own minute daggers. A drop of water falls from the bay's chest onto the colt, causing him to jerk upwards in surprise. Finding his movement impeded by the large body which he had situated himself under, the roan scrambles backwards, returning in a single leap to the instinctive safety of his mother's side. Whuffing softly, he ignores those around him, training his acute gaze on his new discovery.

And now, as gradual as the fall
The dawn of hope
The brilliant sun sending all the shadows fleeing
Sweet daylight
A new stallion rising from the ashes
Leave it all behind and take to flight
