Trying his hardest to stop visibly shaking, he can't help but smile at the strength he still feels in her, the solidness that had always been under the silky delicacy of her surface beauty. She was so much more than that.

"I'm so sorry, I couldn't live without you by me. I was a shadow, a shell, nothing. It sounds like just empty talk, Sunny, but it's true, I need you." Always one to wear his heart on his foreleg, Dare Devil relinquishes his contact to study Sunny's eyes, the ones that had always shown the way in his mind. Looking, he supposed, for that same guiding path. "I need you more than anything, earth, sky, wind. Take it all away and I'd be fine, but for you. You MUST know that's true."

Her own heart spreads and opens, melting into him as he embraces her, entwining her neck with his as they stand together, in ultimate love.

"I know," she says softly, in a tone that says clearly that it would be the same for her. Take away even life, when we are together. Those brilliant blue eyes of hers fill with magic, but only in his presence. Through his self-deprecation, through his 'scaredy-cat' pretenses, she knows there is a stallion there stronger than anything she could ever hope to be.

She thinks the words she cannot speak. You are no empty shell, Darey, but I am vulnerable. You be the strong shell; I will be the soft interior. We'll be one from two, and all the better for it. Instead of vocalizing she sinks into those infinite black eyes, the ones she had missed these years. They provide such comfort and such love as she relinquishes herself to his gaze. Touching her muzzle gently to his and whuffling softly, she finally feels herself relax as she is back with the one to whom she belongs. "Don't ever leave again, Darey," she says finally, her voice overwhelmed by relief and sheer amazement that he's really here, that what she'd been hopelessly imagining had finally come true.
