DIETZ TO B&B
As TV Guide Online hinted weeks ago, Michael Dietz is indeed returning to the daytime canvas. The actor has been cast as Mark on The Bold and the Beautiful. For Dietz, making the move back to the soaps stems from timing — and good friends. "There couldn't be a better job for me right now," exclaims the vet, who recently married his sweetheart Paige Rowland (ex-Christine, AMC; ex-Linda/Debra, Days). The couple is expecting their first child on Oct. 11. Dietz landed his dream gig after signing with übermanager Michael Bruno, a suggestion that came from his good pal Kin Shriner (Scott, GH). "He suggested I give Michael a call... I signed with him, and three weeks later I was on The Bold and the Beautiful!"
Dietz, who played Alan-Michael Spaulding on Guiding Light and Dr. Joe Scanlon on Port Charles, will once again portray a man in the medical field. "My best friend back east is finishing his residency this year, so I'm using him again and the Internet to do my research." Dietz makes his B&B debut on Oct. 2.

A BOLD LOSS
The word on the street is that Hunter Tylo, who's played compassionate Dr. Taylor Hayes Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful since 1990, has been released from the show. On a fan message board, a statement attributed to Tylo reveals that her character had become "too good" to explore darker paths and would be phased out. Tylo experienced a complicated negotiation process with B&B last fall, culminating in an extended exit before returning to the show in November. An official rep for B&B states that the show does not comment on casting.

SOAP VET TO PORT CHARLES
While this news is unconfirmed by the show, sources tell TV Guide Online that soap veteran Rebecca Staab has joined the cast of Port Charles. Staab, who made her daytime debut as Cecelia Thompson on Loving and appeared on Guiding Light, has starred in several films, including Love Potion No. 9 and Stray Bullet. Internet buzz says that Staab will play a maternal figure.

DAYTIME TIDBITS
Oh baby! Kelly Ripa (Hayley, AMC) announced on her talk show Live! With Regis and Kelly that she is expecting her third child in February.

While OLTL has confirmed that Erin Torpey (Jessica) is leaving the show, a spokesperson says she will be on beyond the fall.

Hmmmmmm... Michael Dietz thought he got screwed over on Port Charles. My bet? B&B will keep him till February Sweeps. He'll be a love interest for Brooke who terrorizes her family.

And I never really cared for Hunter Tylo anyway, probably because she's made it clear she doesn't want to do anything new with her character. She wants to be nice nice nice. BLAH!

I guess Rebecca Staab will play Alison's mother on Port Charles. Suggestions for the father? Lane Davies? Randolph Mantooth? Philip Brown?

Kelly's third bambino? I guess we knew what THEY did before he went to film a movie.

As far as Erin Torpey's exit from One Life to Live....Wouldn't you leave if they gave more airtime to the vapid Jessica Morris(Jen)?
