Well this one isn't a shock, more a casting coup.. In 1984, Santa Barbara hired Marcy Walker away from AMC. That was an amazing coup to hire a popular actress from a rival show to come to some new soap. It wasn't like SB was a hit or anything, they hired Marcy before the show premiered. She took a chance with SB, and it paid off! She's got the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress to prove it! :)
