Hmmm whatever happened to that kid who was coming out of the closet back in the early 90's? Ryan Phillipe played him back then. Maybe it's him they'd bring back. I think he was good friends with Joey. And didn't OLTL also have a cross-dressing bartender for a while?

Regarding a true storyline featuring gay characters falling in love, I'd have to say they should go for it. For crying out loud, what year is it? I truly think that anyone (meaning netowrk decision-makers) who believes in the following are stuck in the past:
1 - only women watch soaps
2 - women only want to see romance novel storylines
3 - women are turned off by gay-related storylines but will only accept a comedic sidekick type gay character (*cough* DAYS!)

But you know, Will and Grace is immensely popular but how much do they even show? At least they insinuate and have the occasional kiss. Do network decisionmakers really think that the same people who watch soaps refuse to watch Will & Grace because there are gay men on that show who have relationships with other men? That's just stupid if they do think this. And then there's that soap on Showtime called Queer as Folk. I understand that show is very highly rated and well-receieved. I don't have Showtime so I can't really say much about that aisde from hearing it criticized for showing too much, whatever that means. And finally there are gay people prominently featured in the reality shows and I have yet to hear any complaints about that. Richard, the first winner of Survivor, is gay. I have seen gay people on Amazing Race and the Mole too. On The Real World & Road Rules they have at least one gay person nearly every season. I've seen a lot of same-sex kissing and detailed discussions about sex on thta show and nobody blinks an eye. Again, these shows have great ratings. It's really time that the networks stand up to the very organized christian right-wingers who seem to always be doing their best to influence stop as much gay content as possible.

And just one other comment, I know some guys who are very turned on by seeing two women kissing and are all for it (see the recent Miller Lite beer commercial for example). So what exactly is the problem then if they see two guys kissing? I say just be happy that they found somebody who makes them happy! I have a very good friend who is gay and it doesn't digust me one bit if he's hlolding hand or kissing his boyfriend. Why would I want to see someone I care about be without love just because he happens to prefer the same sex? And isn't finding true love the overall theme in soaps anyway?
