I'm most thankful for ATWT this year. The acting, writing and pace are superior to the others. It was nice to see their ratings go up over the year and it was very satisfying to see ATWT win so many Emmy's.

I too, am thankful that despite an all-out promotional effort like we've never seen for a soap ever before, Passions is still bottom feeding in the ratings; especially during this sweeps month. Yeah, Pash may have classic soap elements and multi-generational storylines but it's just a huge painful mess. It's like they used the top "wants" from any and every focus group and shoved it all into one show featuring Reilly's tedious, contrived storytelling pace and sloppy continuity. It's funny how NBC can have the very best shows in primetime yet the very worst in daytime.

I'm also thankful for ratings declines for Days and GH. (this one's for you. Lisa...go Days go! Go Days go! Around the bowl and down the hole, go Days go!)

A trend that I've been thankful for this year is that many of the soaps have dug into their pasts to bring forth new storylines. In some cases this failed miserabley (General Hospital's horrible Stavros resurection) and in others it was enjoyable and rewarding.

I'm thankful for MTV's attempt at a soap. Though it definitely looked cheap and low-budget there was a lot of excitement in Spyder Games plus we got to see a couple of our favorite Sunset Beach actresses giving some great performances. (TT, is that the actor who played Sasha doing those Dell TV commercials???)

And finally, I'm thankful that you guys will listen to my ranting and raving!!! ;-)
