In reply to: Couchie 's message, "Re: My high school's soap opera is looking good so far......" on 18:51:56 12/11/01 Tue

It's going to be broadcasted on our school's channel one affiliate(not missing much there). Channel One will be pre-empted the whole week our show is being played out.

And I have a principal to answer to. Even though the setting is NOT our high school, she told me to rewrite scenes where a teacher was talking back to a student, a student was using a cellphone at school(cellies aren't allowed at our school) and a line where a character says someone is "more annoying than a Jehoviah Witness on Staurday Morning"(my prinicapl said that could be offensive and it was. No offense if there are any Jehoviah Witnesses on the MB).

Other than that, the storylines are pretty simple to follow, love lost, backstabbing friends being two faced and competition that is not so friendly. So, it does have Saturday mroning written all over it, but I prefer to think of it as an urban version of Beverly Hills, 90210.

I wanted to try and push the envelope with Teen Pregnancy, Suicide, STDs, Euthanasia and Harassment(I even had an idea after September 11th to write myself as a half Arab character who is harassed at school.) But, since these issues have been pretty much HAMMERED into the minds of today's youth, I thought I'd lighten things up with situations we could ALL relate to at one point and time. And since each episode is about 5 minutes long, I felt like two segments of a storyline each day would simply not be ENOUGH to flesh out a storyline of such caliber(even if the school accepoted my storyline ideas).

If our show were to ever air on a network, we'd be in deep sh*t for copyright infringement. We use stuff from the Days of our Lives soundtrack, Mariah Carey(AKA my Genius of Love), and we used an Aaliyah track.

I have some of the most cooperative cast members by far. Willing to spend most of their lunch time to tape a scene which is about 20-30 seconds LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There ARE no divas on the set.

I plan on a HUGE promotional campaign as well as a website with character and actor bios as well as updates on what happened.

And a launch party with the papaers invited.
