As you know.... Guiding Light premiered a new
opening signature on Monday. Here is my
grade by category and then, a final grade.

THEME/CONCEPT A+
There is nothing I like more than continuity.
GL must always include the lighthouse in its
opening, they did away with it in late 70s/80s,
but thankfully JFP (ironicly) was the one
who brought it back. Good move in maintaining
the lighthouse.

MUSIC C- for pace / A- for concept
Way too slow! Also what was wrong with the old theme?
The old theme would have fit well with the new graphics!
Although certainly we could have ended up with an ER-like
theme that JFP gave to Another World! So A- for keeping
with a "traditional" soap opera theme. Had the pace
of the theme were faster, the entire music category
could have gotten an A+!

GRAPHICS A-
Pictures of actors in the circle of LIGHT! Love it!

LOGO F
Don't blink! You could miss the new logo of GUIDING
on one line and LIGHT in smaller letters below it.
Terrible arrangement of the title, but thankfully
no one will notice since the damned logo/title is only
seen very quickly before the camera fades to commercial.
But that leads to another problem (see final grade)

FINAL GRADE: C
The logo/title brought this grade down drastically!
The words GUIDING LIGHT are barely even noticable since
they flash on/off the screen, since the title of the
show is an important aspect of an shows opening theme,
I find it impossible to reward such an idiotic mistake
with any grade higher than C! The title
DAYS OF OUR LIVES are on DAYS opening for at least half
or more than half of the entire opening theme.
On ATWT's, title shown several times. Same with B&B...
