Izzy lives on in our hearts and minds forever. Its amazing that after all these years we would remember Izzy and what we did to him.

yes I remember Izzy it was a long time ago and I remember everyone making fun at him and being so mean to him
I hope he is in a better place now and we have grown up.

It is amazing that Izzy Bender is remembered by so many people. I heard that he was hit by a bus and that's why he was disfigured the way he was. It's ashame the way he was mocked.

I remember him also - everyone in Seaview Village used to make fun of him - and he lived in that "haunted house" across from the old library, I believe?

Used to see him on ave L in the 50's. There were legends that he had saved a girl from a trolley years before and that he had been hit himself. an immortal canarsie character.

Yes, I remember Izzy Bender quite well! Looking back to the 50's when I was much younger, we used to make fun of him, which was so cruel, but we were "stupid" kids! I also remember a heavy set guy named "Chiefy" who worked at the Canarsie Theater as a maintenance man, and we also teased him terribly! Izzy was quite frightening to us when we were very young as we didn't understand his condition!
