I suffer from chronic pain terribly. In 1984 I was involved in a major M.V.A. in which I rupturered my diaphram, punctured a lung, and had 3 vertebrae damaged. In 2002, I accidentally fell while cleanig out a boat and ended up with 7 broken ribs and pneumonia. I suffer terribly everyday. My doctor will not prescribe me opioid pain medication. I can not take NSAIDs or aspirin because of ulcers. I do take celebrix which I can tolerate, but only to please my doctor as I don't find it helps anything with the pain. He will not prescribe me opioids because of previous drug addictions...(duh..wonder why). I do not use illict drugs although I used to smoke marijuana. I don't find that it helps my pain. I quit pot about 2 months ago, it's now Nov. 8/03. All he will prescribe me is anti-depressants, (Remeron), as well as clonazepam and medication for high blood pressure. I doubt I would be depressed if I wasn't in pain all the time. I have been on welfare for over 10 years, but I want to work. Every job I've tried, they have let me go because of my physical condition. I've tried exercising but again my pain prevents me from doing very much. When I ask the doctor to prescribe something for the pain he always tells me that I suffer from Chronic Pain Syndrome and that opioid medication will not help me. I believe that if I was prescribed opioid medication, I would lose my depression, probably my hypertension and anxiety. I would probably be able to sleep at night.. Please....can somebody guide me to a physician who will help with medication for chronic pain. I live in Saskatoon, SK. I am really near the end of my rope. I do not go anywhere or do anything but sit in front of this computer. I don't drink alcohol, as I stated I don't do illicit drugs, please, I need help to have a life again. If anyone can help me please email me at tsiklosi@sasktel.net.
