Get "The Fibromyalgia Advocate" by Devin J. Starlanyl, M.D., a doctor who also has FMS. Also, see a rheumotologist because they come across, treat FMS most often. Standard physical therapy hasn't helped me; in fact, the stretches they had me do made the pain worse. Keep a pain notebook and put in it what you eat, meds you take, what time you get up and retire for the evening, effects of food, meds, exercise, et cetera on your systems. Them make adjustments. Listen to your body!
Some pain medications to ask your doctor, if s/he is knowledgeable about FMs, is Paxil, Elavil, Neurontin, Ultram, Ativan, Flexeril, and of course the opioids for bad flares, like codeine, vicadin, et cetera.
Look for a local support group. Talk to others you have this.
Hope any of this helps.
Carolyn
