Subject: Recap of AMERICA'S MISS PAGEANT

AMERICA'S MISS PAGEANTS is proud to announce that Chelsea Belanger, 21, of Selma, Texas was crowned America's Miss 2008 on July 5, 2008 at The International Plaza Resort & Spa in Orlando, Florida. Chelsea also won the fitness wear and formal wear competitions, as well as the People's Choice Award in the Miss division. The first runner up is Erin McKown, America's Miss Georgia. Erin also received the Miss Congeniality Award. The second runner up is Stephanie Litton, America's Miss North Carolina. Stephanie also received the Academic Achievement Award.

Hannah Mollerick, 17, of Laurel, Maryland was crowned America's Miss Teen 2008. Hannah also won the fitness wear competition in the Teen division, and the optional Swimwear and Party Wear competitions.The first runner up is Victoria Doran, America's Miss Virginia Teen. Victoria was also named Miss Photogenic and received the People's Choice Award. The second runner up is Elizabeth Bryan, America's Miss Alabama Teen. Elizabeth also received the Academic Achievement Award and won the formal wear competition.

The state delegates arrived on Sunday, June 29, 2008 for orientation and were interviewed by the reigning America's Miss Teen, Ashley Dietrich of Montana. Group photos were taken and contestants exchanged gifts that included monogrammed and personal items, T-shirts and more.

The next day contestants boarded a bus for a VIP trip to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom where they had centerstage participating in Disney's "Family Day Parade". The teens twirled hoops with Chipmunks, Chip and Dale and waved American flags while parading down Main Street.

Contestants began rehearsing for the Pageant on Tuesday morning. They then boarded a Trolley to Wonder Works, Florida's only upside-down attraction; an amusement park for the mind, featuring over 100 interactive exhibits for the entire family. There they had the opportunity to experience a tornado, a 5.3 quake in an Earthquake Simulator, make gigantic bubbles in the Bubble Lab, feel the sensation of 3,500 SHARP nails rise up on a Bed of Nails, ride the Wonder Coaster, play Lazer Tag and more.

On Wednesday, contestants began rehearsals in the ballroom of the International Plaza Resort, then boarded the Trolley for a short ride to Pointe Orlando where they dined at Pizzeria Valdiano. The family owned establishment has been voted "the best pizza in town 5 consecutives years in a row." The contestant’s lunch consisted of a variety of pizzas, salads and breadsticks. All agreed the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Many thanks to The Liguori Family.

The Awards Luncheon on Thursday honored Amanda & Ashley for their year of reign. State finalist and special awards for Academic Achievement and Community Service were awarded. Contestants were also given a commemorative framed photo of Amanda & Ashley. Next, was a trip to the Festival Bay Mall for an afternoon of shopping.

The 4th of July began with an 8:00 am photo shoot by the hotel pool. Contestants were photographed in opening number dresses, fitness wear and patriot wear. The rest of the day was open for contestants to spend with their families.

On Saturday afternoon, the Teen and Miss contestants met with the judges for a panel interview. Following dress rehearsals, the Pageant began at 7:00 PM. With the crowning of the new America’s Miss & America’s Miss Teen 2008, a Coronation Celebration was held on the Patio at the International Plaza Resort. Special awards were presented and the new winners cut the ceremonial cake. A birthday cake was also presented to Chelsea, who celebrated her 21 birthday and the audience sang “Happy Birthday”.

The Host City for the 2009 National Pageant will be "Charm City" Baltimore, Maryland. WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!
