Helo there!

Well, I must say that I really enjoyed learning about the lexical approach. All the other approaches we have delt with I was familiarized with them, but this one is completely new to me!!

Ok, so here goes what I understood from the lexical approach:

The lexical approach is a method that develops current thinking, synthesizing some of the insights of previous theory, corpus linguistics, analysis of discourse and more modern approaches to grammar. Some of the main features of the Lexical Approach are the invalidation of the grammar/vocabulary dichotomy; collocation works as an organizing principle; successful in learning the language is targeted more than accuracy; the observe-hypothesize-experiment cycle replaces the present-practice-produce paradigm; and consistence of the language as a grammaticalised lexis instead of the lexicalized grammar. This approach is an attempt to re-evaluate professionals in the second language development as well as the profession as a whole.

Thanks a lot!

Roberta
