Explain what a genre-based approach is.
Genre-based approach is used to identify a written text according to its purpose and caracteristic patterns of language.
It is the main purpose to identify the aim of an especific text for teaching learners home to write a correct text using correct cohesions. The aspect you will pay attention is the correct use of patterns of essays, reports and summaries.
A genre approach requires that before attempting to write in a particular genre, the students have been exposed to the genre by reading, analyzing and discussing examples of texts, because when they will write a text they make it accordint to a correct way and pattern.
An essential aim of the genre approach is to determine what kind of texts are value (and why), and also to make these genres accessible to students in both reading and writing.
