Explain with your own words what a task-based language learning is.
A task-based learning is a task which offers the possibility to interact to students and teacher. This task uses a language as an instrument in which students use it to achieve a specific outcome.
The main proposal of this activity is show how language is used in real life, in real situations.
Task-based learning send us to think mainly in the value of language in a sense of real communication. A rich vocabulary is used in this task but is not essential thing.
According to Joamn Grandall, "there are a variety of strategies and techniques used in content-centered second language instruction". We can see, according to Grandall, four types of strategies:
- Cooperative learning: the main proposal is encourage students to communicate one each others,
- Task-based or experiential learning. The main proposal is develop thinking and study skills,
- Whole language approach: based on the concept that students need to experience language as an integrated whole, and
- Graphic organizers: it enables students to organize information and organize ideas.
