Subject: New Consule General for Brisbane

Hi everyone, just a little toksave.



On Saturday last week, Lawrence and myself had the pleasure of being invited to go meet the new Consul General for Brisbane Mr Paul Nerau. His office had organised a little get-together to formally introduce him to the Brisbane community.

I must say I came away from the meeting quite impressed in that we now have someone who is very interested in working with all sections of the PNG community in Brisbane. He is aware that there is a large population of students and he would like to be of any help that he can be.

Among other matters discussed was the idea of having a decent independence celebration. A fundraising sub-committee has been formed with the intention of raising funds to host an all-inclusive Independence celebration this year. I am a member of that sub-committee therefore I am open to any suggestion or thoughts any of you may have in that regard.



I am looking forward to working with his office and I hope many of you will appreciate and reciprocate his dedication.
