Subject: Pop Klees Pool Hall (Prank Call).

Pop was a great man.
Durring the course of growing up in Canarsie, you meet some truly great people... Pop Was one of them.
I remember a prank call me and a few friends made to his pool hall. We were bored, and cutting out of school, so we gave him a call just to see what kind of reaction we would get. Now if you ever been to Pops, you would instantly realize that this is NO Quality Pool hall. First off all the sticks are warped. Any strait sticks there were probably removed from the pool hall and instantly made into fisshing poles. The tables were warped, and the balls were cock-eyed, at least thats what Pop told us. We called up pretending to want to have a Birthday Party there for some 5 year old kids, about 30 of them.
Pop could barely take noisy teen agers let alone 30 5 year olds. We asked him if he does Birthday partys. He reluctantly paused for a second probably contimplating if it could be worth it.
Without answering yes or no, he asked how many people would be there. We told him about 30 people. He than said that he didnt have enough pool tables for 30 people to play at the same time. I answered that it was OK because most of them dont play pool. At this point he was kind of baffled as to why we would want to have a Party in a pool hall if nobodys gonna play? I told him that Me and some of the parents liked to play pool, and the 20 kids would probably run around and play with things. He quickly said the words " You wanna have a party for kids?". I answered yes, my nephew just turned 5 years old, and we would like to have a party at your pool hall on sunday night. I then Asked him what he gets for an hour of pool. He anwered me back $10.00 an hour ( I guess he threw a high number as to blow me off or deter me.). I answered great I was looking to spend about 600 dollars for 2 hours, can I stop over there today and give you 300 dollars as a deposit? Pop paused for a second. Now, ive been in his pool hall a million times. And I dont think on his best day he made 600 dollars (even selling a couple of fishing poles and a worthless snapper popper), and certainly not in 2 hours.
Now at this point I didnt think the conversation would even go this far (I thought I was going to die laughing at the thought of Pop Klees having a birthday party, like it was the next Chuckie Cheeses!). I figured that he would hang up on me at the first mention of a birthday party, or the fact it was for 5 yearolds. I needed a way out of the conversation, and it had to piss him off so he hung up on me (that would be the funniest way out).
Well, he accepted the offer, and told me to come on in with the deposit and we will make araingments.
Quickly thinking I remembered Pops beutiful bathroom ( If you been there and used it you know what I mean!!)
I Asked him if his bathrooms were cleen? He hesitated and said "what?". I then said that some of the 5 yearolds were not fully potty trained yet and were still in diapers, and we would need a place to change the kid if they got dirty. I then asked him if they had a baby changing station in the bathroom. He said " A Baby What?" I explained what a baby station was and he sain no I dont have one. I then told him that all I would need is a flat surface to change the kid on, I then asked if it would be OK to change the kid on a pooltable if I layed a blanket down. He then said " You wanna change a babys diapers on my table?" This almost killed me. I answered yes, but I would guarantee that nothing would get on the table, and if it did I would have it fixed for him. He just said "Thats fine"..
Damn it , I was at a stand still. I was almost positive that he would have hung up the phone on me. I then came up with the answer.
I told Pop that I was going to hire a clown to come to the party, but the clown was unavailable.
I then offered Pop 100 dollars to dress up as a clown.
He hung up.
I laughed so hard I thought I would die.
We had recorded the entire convirsation on a cassete recorder, and played it over and over again.
I am going to get it out of storage and listen to it. I am also going to convert it to MP3.
If your interested in a copy of the conversation, email me.
Later.
JASON

That is too funny! Sounds just like POP! I got taken away by the police a couple of times, for being in his pool hall during school. I wonder if he called them!
