HOW CAN WE TEST COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE?

At first to test communicative competence teachers shoud have in mind that communicative is the ability to use the language in any circumstances, with to the functions and the varieties of language, as well as shared sociocultural suppositions.Then in a communicative test, students must be able to use not only the linguistic competence (the knowledge of phnological, morfosintatic and semanthics rules) since communicative competence is composed of grammatical, sociolinguistic, discourse and strategic competence. He has to be able to adequate use of language in different situation proposed by the test. According to Hammer(1996) communicative tests must also,as far as posible, reflect real life. This means that communicative tests should be as realistic as posible, even they are not authentic. in order to avoid comprehension problems these tests require context in which they can place, since some real life situations not always have a specific objective.
