Subject: task 13



This communicative activity uses the news with connecting words as a base in other to “Discovering differences” (Littlewood).
· In this activity, it is not necessary to discuss about news, you should just discover all the differences in the focus in each subject written by the journalist.
· Two groups will take the news, but both them talk about the same subject. The point is, the news have different point of view.
· It should talk about something that is happening nowadays. These groups are in an Intermediate level.

After some minutes the group A explained what the news shows, after this the group B do the same thing, but the most important is explain with connecting words (conjunctions: even thought, moreover, second, third, in my opinion, etc.).

For example:
A - In our news, they were talking about MST, but they did it in a critic way. Such as: MST is a big problem, first they have no rules, second they have been occupied public place. (They used a sequence conjunction)
B – In our news, they started explaining the points and methodology that MST used to do. Like: MST made a manifestation while the president was traveling. (They used the time conjunction)

This activity not only makes the students speak using connecting words, but it improves the critic students’ conscience in situations that they should know about.
