Subject: Task 8

Back on early days I remember that English was not an interesting thing to me. In my school days neither my parents nor me thought that English was important and so I never went to any kind of English course. I was always a student of the public system and, besides the schools that I attended were very good, such as Coltec, I had always the feeling that learning a second language was not the objective of these institutions. I am saying this because the teaching of English in the schools of the public system was a repetition of rules without purpose. This is how I saw English classes in those places. And so it gone on until High School.

And in High School something changed my attitude towards the English language. It was not the teaching, but myself. I started to discover things that had gave me motivation to learn English. At that time I started to have contact with interesting stuff in English, specifically music and RPG. The music I started to listen was the English and the American Rock and Roll and the RPG was, at that time, a game that had all the rules in English.
This was the way that my pursuit of the English language had a start. Through dictionaries, friends and whatever source of English I was learning that language. However the most important factor was myself. My willpower to learn that language was amazing and I crossed every obstacle that was put in front of me. In this way I learned more and more each day, beginning with music and RPG, but as my skills increased I had undergone other mediums, such as books and computers.

In this way I ended at the College, and in Faculdade de Letras. There I had a really formal education and with more and better orientation my skills increased much faster and with more accuracy. Each day at college I try and learn a new thing about English.

In the classroom I had never had experiences teaching English, although I had been a computation teacher and a biology teacher. And as I had had good experiences with these things I think that when the moment arrives to me to teach English things will go well. As a student I think that I go well in the classrooms. Being very curious, is not much difficult for a teacher to make me interested in a subject.

Looking back for was I had passed and with the knowledge that I now have I can say that my way in the English language learning was very tortuous. However if I compare it with the Communicative Approach I can also say that it was very effective. Since the beginning my intent was to communicate in English with those around me and to understand the world in English. With high motivation I walked my path. With strong decision to learn and searching the available tools I made my learning possible.
