Subject: Task 9

The task-based approach appeared as an alternative syllabus in a time that all the syllabuses were made about grammatical and linguistic features. The Task-based approach had as intent try to make a syllabus more concerned on the communicative features.
In order to achieve it this approach presented the idea of classes were the tasks were presented to the students with a primary explanation of the teacher and the had the challenge of answer or to complete that task before the teacher give any explanation about language.
According to Skehan not only the moment when the students are working in the task is important but also the moment before it, when the teacher has to be very careful in the choice of the task ( being aware of its degree of difficulty) and after the task is done when the students are suppose to show their results.
In the moment when the task is being completed the teacher has to be aware if the time given to the students is enough and if s/he have enough information about what the students are supposed to do.
The Task-based approach has as aim to make the students comfortable in using language with their classmates and try to make them lose the fear of committing mistakes. The communication is the goal that all the teachers should expect.
In order to make this communication more real the teacher has search for real examples of a communicative process, specially using real texts.
