EXPLAIN WHAT A LEXICAL APPROACH IS. DESCRIBE ITS MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:

After some reading, I understood that the lexical approach can be seen as a serious attempt at revaluation for the individual teacher and the profession in order to develop some principles related to the communicative approach. There is a high interest in the understanding of the nature of lexis in the language itself and also a great contribution to language pedagogy. We as teachers must be aware of some theories to support our classroom procedures. We can not simply be in a classroom and don't know why we teach on this or that way.
One of the Lexical approach characteristics are that 1)the grammar/vocabulary dichotomy is invalid, 2) collocation is used as an organising principle, 3) successful language is a wider concept than accurate language and the most importantly, language consists of grammaticalised lexis-not lexicalised grammar.
