How can we use portfolios to evaluate our students' progress?
We can use portfolios to evaluate students according to the work, exams, etc put in there throughout the course, evaluating the progress of the students as for listening, writing, speaking and reading. There are innumerous purposes of portfolios for evaluation, but the most important one is the writing skills.
Concerning the listening and speaking, it is better to use cassette tapes and videotapes, which capture the learner's use of the language that are useful in determining the progress of a learner's communicative competence.
