Subject: Task 14

Many students think that to prepare to a test they have to know the subject by heart. What we can see in "Testing Communicative Competence" is that instead testing if the students memorized the subject, in communicative test the teacher has to know if the student was able to produce language in the appropriate context.
The main point here is if the student could make himself understood and could understand the messages in the learnt language.
In order to make a good test the teacher has to bear in mind the need of building a good context where communication can be developed. To do so, the teacher has to present situation, which are familiar to the student. So by this we can see that a question can be very successful for a group of students and not so much for another if they’re not part of the same social context and so on.
Another important thing is the evaluation. Since you can’ expect a fixed answer for all students the teacher has concern if the student developed or not the task in the way it was expected.
