Na semana que passou, o Presidente George Bush afirmou durante uma entrevista coletiva: marriage for me is between a man and a woman". Sua afirma��o � bem ilustrativa do
sistem moral conservador. Ao condenar o casamento entre pessoas do mesmo sexo, ele usou categorias de a��o moral tipo Promoting Strict Father Morality e Upholding Moral Order. Estruturados pela met�fora NATION AS FAMILY os valores familiares e a paternidade s�o fundamentais para a pol�tica conservadora, como bem fundamenta Lakoff "Contemporary conservative politics tries to link the family use and the political use of the models more closely to point out that conservatives have the Strict Father Model of the family and to convince others that they should be political Conservatives. Family values and fatherhood have recently become central to conservative politics".
O governo Americano e o Vaticano parecem estar agindo in concert: o Estado de Minas de 5 de Agosto traz a not�cia dos protestos da comunidade gay contra o documento do Vaticano condenando o casamento entre pessoas do mesmo sexo. Os l�deres do movimento bradam: "os gays protestam contra o homofobia do Vaticano". Parece que, em ambos os casos , a categoria de a��o moral The Strict Father Morality n�o se justifica na aus�ncia da prole concebida naturalmente em casamentos entre pessoas do mesmo sexo.
