It doesn't look back again to make sure your following.
All the while, it continues to whistle the tune. You notice that it is the same 8 bar stanza repeated over and over with some small variations.
You also notice that this copse is far larger on the inside then it looks on the outside.
You follow the winged thing for what seems like ages until it finally stops. It jumps up onto a fallen log and sings a simplified version of the eight bar stanza. To the left there is a reply, and another winged thing crawls out from the undergrowth, almost identical to the one on the log. It sings the same 8 bar tune, with some small variations. The winged thing on a log repeats the tune, and it passes back at forth, becoming more and more complicated each time.
Eventually, the new winged thing bows in defeat, and a chorus of claps echoes around the log. Tens upon tens of the winged things are seated in the trees and low shrubs, aplauding the one on the log's singing ability.
It then gestures to your instrument before gesturing to you, asing if you want to participate.
