I'm not saying they lie just if they're trying to pick someone up, like it would get them somewhere to say they are single or whatever. In the situation I referred to Josh wasn't trying to pick up my friend at all and she wasn't interested in him so it didn't matter if he is single or not. We were actually talking to a few of the guys-one who we've known for a while and are friends with stopped to say hello-and the subject came up and Josh said he is single while one other said he has a "girlfriend" and another said he's basically seeing someone but doesn't really consider her a "girlfriend".
