擁抱女人的那個男人是亞當，女人是夏娃。
一切都是破題兒第一遭。
我見到天空有件白色的東西，人們說是月亮，
可是我憑言語和神話又有什麼辦法。
樹木使我有點害怕，它們美得異乎尋常。
安靜的動物挨過來讓我呼喚它們的名字。
圖書館裡的書籍沒有文字，我打開時才浮現。
我一面翻閱地圖，一面揣摩蘇門答臘的模樣。
黑暗中劃亮火柴的人是火的發明人。
鏡子裡有另一個人在窺探。
放眼海洋的人看到了英國。
念出李利恩克龍詩句的人投入戰鬥。
我夢見迦太基和摧毀迦太基的軍團。
我夢見戰神的劍和法律女神的天平。
男歡女悅，兩廂情願的愛情值得讚美。
夢魘也值得讚美，因為它表明我們也能創造地獄。
放乎中流的人在恆河順流而下。
凝視沙漏的人看到帝國的解體。
把玩匕首的人預示凱撒之死，
睡覺的人是芸芸眾生。
我見到沙漠中建成不久的人面獅身像。
普天之下並無古老事物。
一切都是破題兒第一遭。但終古常新。
看到我的詩句的人在把詩句創造。
