我的推介是S.E. Hinton的The Outsiders. 是一個有關邊緣少年的成長故事。優點是故事吸引，有戲劇性，而且內容正面。但此書描寫的是七十年代的美國青少年，而且集中描寫一班家庭環境不好的少年人，又涉及打鬥，香港的年青人較難代入。不過此書到現在仍是美國中學生的課外讀物。我看時也是十四、五歲，我的背景與那些少年主角很不同，但我仍深受感動。
其他我少年時喜歡的外國名著包括：C.S.Lewis的“獅王、女巫、衣櫥系列”，小婦人，簡愛，俠隠記（譯本），Enid Blyton的書（如Five on a Treasure Island），傲慢與偏見等。
最大了我反而少看英文書。我覺得讀書時期是看最多書的時候，所以應多作鼓勵。
