有些面膜為了效果顯著，會用一些對皮膚無益甚至有害的化學品，譬如維他命C有助淡化黑斑，但太易氧化，為穩定維他命C而加的防腐劑對皮膚有害。平日多吃含豐富維他命C的天然食品更有效。彩光效用不大。
