If you do change lengths or even if you do
not, there are other areas that play into things. Namely,
speed bumps. The other day just as I was about to exit
the condo where I live a compact truck slowed for a speed
bump just as I was about to make a "U" turn after getting
my mail. I had to alter course and ended up hitting a pedal
on the ***###&&& "speed bump" I was lucky to survive that
encounter. I also have used a custom pair of cranks that
were "185" and did so quite nicely, if anyone is interested.
It had a 56t ring to boot!!
You use more leg muscle so might need more spagetti is the
only draw back. The lower torque helps if you are on the
heavy side (Sean Yates type heavy) and so may be a benefit
climbing hills etc. You will generate more lactic acid too!
