*Shrug* I guess for me it's that I'm a writer. I know the importance of developing character motivations and relationships and I am careful to do so in my own writing.

Now, I know that on tv time is much more restricted, and things have to be done in shorthand. But, it seems to me that if they had time over the past 15 episodes or so to show us all the ways Alex is a pain in the butt, and all the ways Sam has been treating Luka BADLY, and a few cute little pre-and-post-sex scenes to show how well they get along in bed, they could have found time for ONE scene in which they are together, just enjoying each other's company and talking about something besides Alex. (Maybe a scene where he tells her about his past [more than the two line throw-away where he told her that he used to have children], and she realizes that his life has been even more painful and complicated than her own?)

But hey ... they are tv writers who earn 6 figure salaries. I'm just a struggling freelancer and fan-fic writer, so they must know best ...
