Date Posted: 04:02:29 02/12/05 Sat There is a lot of interest in this movie, so I thought I'd re-post this message in it's own message thread. The movie is 65% English dialog and 35% Croatian dialog. The "Region-0"/"Region-free" DVD with English (and several other language) subtitles has been sold out for many months on the Internet. So, if you live in either the USA or Canada you can do what I did. And if you live in Europe, then you don't need step 2. 1) Purchase the PAL format video from here: http://www.balkanmedia.com/cgi-bin/nph-epretrazivac.cgi This company was FAST, I got my tape from Croatia in one week (and I'm in California). It costs $16.20 (US) and this store has the cheapest Internet price. 2) If you do not have a region-free video player (and cannot modify your player) then you need to have the videotape converted to one with a NTSC format. I sent my PAL formatted POSLJEDNJA VOLJA to the least expensive and closest video conversion company I could find. You can run your own Internet search, just search for "video conversion company.” Here is where I sent my tape: http://www.vhsconversion.com/format.html Conversion to a NTSC videotape was only $17.00. I elected to have the tape converted into a NTSC DVD, and paid $24.95 for that, with chapter marks set at every 8 minutes. One nice thing is that this company gives you a plastic storage case for free. And best of all, this company was FAST. I got my tape back in one week of my mailing it out, even though this company is located in the middle of the USA. The PAL videotape does not have subtitles. However, the parts that are spoken solely in Croatian mostly involve comedic subplots that are obvious and easy to understand. For instance, Bepo (played by Goran Visnjic) almost 'makes it' with a pretty tourist. When her man blunders in on them, Bepo barely gets away, and the fellow spends the rest of the movie trying to find Bepo. The situations this guy has as a result are funny and very easily understood (even though his scenes are completely in Croatian). There is also a scene in which the town's police officer thinks the American lawyer might be a killer, but it was easy to see that Bepo explains that she is not, that she is there only to execute a Will. Stylistically, this movie reminds me of American comedies from the 1940s or 1950s, and is fun to watch. Besides that, an entire movie that has Goran Visnjic smiling, laughing, flirting, swimming and, YES, getting dressed and undressed several times... makes POSLJEDNJA VOLJA / THE LAST WILL well worth the effort of buying and having converted.
