Of course many non-smokers 'smoke' for roles in films/stage/tv and I don't think it makes much difference one way or the other.

When I was watching "Kisigani" I couldn't help thinking in that scene that, when Carter commented to Luka that "I didn't think that you smoked" and Luka said "I don't," that Luka had the smoker's mannerisms down far too well (the way he handles the smoke with his mouth, and the cigarette with his hands, to be, supposedly, a nonsmoker who had picked up the habit due to the stress of his present situation.

Still, I hope you're right and he is trying to quit. It's a nasty, dangerous, habit, and he deserves to have a long and healthy life. (And I'll get down off my soap-box now.)
