Date Posted: 17:54:49 05/06/03 Tue In reply to: Chris 's message, "Spartacus" on 11:45:56 04/28/03 Mon ROBERT DORNHELM 's newest project is an adaptation of the late Howard Fast novel 'SPARTACUS' for USA Network. The same novel was adapted into the 1960 Stanley Kubrik film, but Dornhelm says his version will be quite different. His will be the "deconstructed epic." The director feels that he wants to establish a point and counterpoint scenario-the grandeur of Rome shown in all its scale and glory pitted against the gritty lives of the slaves on the run. Cast as Spartacus is Goran Visnjic whose exemplary work on 'The Deep End' was a springboard from the urban realism of his role in 'ER.' As the scheming Agrippa, the Academy Award nominee Sir Alan Bates brings with him an extrordinary background of performances on film, television and the theatre. The four hour $20 million dollar film will shoot on locations in Bulgaria commencing around the 26th of May for an eleven week shoot followed by five months of post-production including extensive special visual effects. ahhhhhhhhhhhh, four hours of Goran. No definate air date though. Since post production is not estimated to be wrapped up until late Dec or early Jan, looks like we will have to wait until Spring. :( [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
