Since that has been said, here's another question: is the idealism forced upon us here in America harmful?

My answer is yes, because so many people become distressed and desperate in trying to attain that which is impossible. What's worse is that advertisers know (or should) the effects some commercials have upon impressionistic kids, yet continue to wreak havoc on kids' egos to profit by it. Even myself, who tries to reject and disprove anything brought by the mass media, has been affected. Usually I have a very negative image of my body, which I know does not fit the "standards." So why do people who fully understand the implications of their actions continue to destroy lives anyway?

"Because they're stupid. That's why everyone does everything."
~Homer Simpson.

I really don't think that advertisers have much ethics of which to speak. Now, are there any questions as to why I want to go into advertising?

Yeah. Are you unethical? You could probably talk to several of the people surrounding you. Though you may not know it, they'll be completly happy to pick out a set of ethics for you. People like that should learn how to mind their own buisness. Which in turn relates back to the advertising industry. They choose to pick out a set of ethics for you, though they do it through what you buy. Now, why do you want to go into the advertising industry?
