Max Schaefer, VP of Blizzard North, has posted that the
item drop rates will soon be improved via a server side
patch.

All,

We are aware of the item drop problem and are
currently fixing it. I cannot say exactly when it will
be up on the servers, but it should be very soon.
You will notice a great improvement in the
drops, especially in Hell difficulty, when the fix
goes live. Thank you for your patience, and we
apologize for the inconvenience.

Max Schaefer
VP, Blizzard North
