I think Harley acts pretty much like a typical male in this aspect. It isn't entirely his business whether or not she's being beaten, just as what goes on in his own home, to him, is no business of anybody else. As to whether Lynette killed her husband - the fact that the question is in his mind is bad enough to him, he doesn't really want to know the answer to that one.
