I'd like to thank everyone at Airport Raceway who's working so hard to make the Jr. Sprints take off again!
Play day was great for us, the race track was perfect both big and little tracks...the kids had a blast and got some well needed laps! Can't wait to see 20 of them lil guys and gals out there! Thanks to the parents and young drivers who came out to play and show off their cars! And also thanks to the staff at Jetmore and URSS for going the extra mile to make it possible for the Jrs to run over there, with out everyones help these kids wouldn't have a place to race and we won't have any young guns coming up the ranks in the future! Congrats to Kaden Hagens and Jordan Knight for their one-two finish in Sniper Chassis!
I just talked to Ed Beckley at DCRP and he's really wanting as many Jr. Sprints as we can get over there Friday night for the 305 race and also on Saturday for 360 race for those who aren't running at Airport!
Thanks again!!

We were in attendance at the I-44 raceway last weekend and in fact were almost gathered up in the accident that so severly burned Harli White. I hope this serves as a catalyst for every race track we run at to review their saftey procedures. As racers we need to make sure we have the BEST of everything. I tell everyone i meet how nice Garden City is as a racing facility and a group of people. As the father of a 12 year old racer I sincerely hope the Management Group at Garden City ensures their fire response measures are on par with the quality of the facility they give us to race at. Look forward to seeing a huge "restticted" class at GC.

Just wanted to take the time to let a few people know that the efforts put forth to improve racing at airport raceway are greatly appreciated by myself and others I have talked to. Not only will your efforts help in the 2008 racing season, but for years to come. This means with any luck our children will have a place to race, and who knows, maybe even their children too. As for others, remember that these men that are taking the time to better the race track are not out for just themselves, they are doing this for all of us who enjoy racing, and they deserve praise for their efforts. One more thing, remember before you post any comments on this forum, there may be people who are considering coming to airport raceway, and what they see on this forum could persuade them. Thanks

Ladies and Gentlemen,
We would like your input on the racers classified area, would you be in favor of a controlled area where you can have your cars, trailers, parts, suits, etc listed to be sold??
Would you support an area in which if your items sold because of the contact information the web site helped you with, you would donate a small portion or small amount to the WebSite/GCAR Club for helping you move your parts? (sell a 100.00 firesuit give a donation of 5 bucks, sell a 5000.00 micro give a donation of 25 or 50 bucks)
Just some input to help keep used cars sold and the numbers growing, right now we know of over 15 cars in our area that are for sale and there is not a good place where the people can have the parts listed.
Input time people this is your club let us know what you think!
And don't forget Club work day at the track this Saturday 10a.m.

Danny and Others, as the web page updates your computers will cache older tabs from the new dns server, if you go to the web site and some things don't pop up for you after i have come on and posted that they are up, you will need to clean your computers cache in your internet explorer, go to your tools tab, internet options, then delete files, and delete history, then close your internet explorer and reopen a new one, then come back into the www.airportraceway.com and try again. The schedule is up for some and not for others, if you don't see it, clean your cache or over 24 hours it will self clean. Good luck as the web pages build and load.

- Weighing like we are moving to, working in NYMM series just a good read I want to pass on -- Rocky Watson, 22:25:04 03/04/08 Tue (mv1-cw-dynamic-64-71-215-74.havilandtelco.com/64.71.215.74)
This was a discussion about the rules on Maximum dirt.
Re: why all the discussion about rules
by AHRTeam on Tue Feb 05, 2008 1:11 pm
The rules are there because of drivers like yourself. With the rising costs of racing and fuel prices going higher and higher, low budget teams are having a hard enough time getting to the track. Once at the track they have to compete with their stock 600 engine vs. someone’s bored out 637cc engine all at the same weight is unfair. The rules are in place to let the maximum amount of drivers compete at the same time, and level the playing field. The rules allow for the high end teams to still go out and spend $10,000 on a motor, and at the same time a stock 600 (lower budget teams) can still be competitive with the larger (higher budget teams) allowing for bigger turnouts.
These rules have no been around for a long time. The NYMM Series was the first sanctioned body to try the weight rules and it has been nothing but success. Drivers no longer have to spend thousands of dollars to try and keep up with the high budget teams. I am not sure how they plan on distinguishing the cars, but with us it’s done by adding stickers to the side of the car. S-for stock, O-for open, and 2-for 2mm(637cc) cars. When you come across the scales, the tech insp. knows S=750lbs ect ect. You are given the stickers at the opening tech night, and if you change your motor you change the sticker. If you’re found cheating, you’re gone. Teching for motor size can be done in: 30 seconds once the spark plug is pulled. In 4 years we have yet to have someone cheat. It gives you a piece of mind knowing the motor size of the drivers you're racing against and to know that it will be teched. We tech every race at least the top 3.
It works folks, give it some time. Most of the posters here are drivers I’m sure. What you need to do is step out of the drivers point of view and into a promoter/president point of view. I heard this same grumbling that’s going on now 5 years ago when we introduced these rules here in NY. Talk to any of our drivers and they will tell you how good it’s been.NYMM Series

- Future Views of Airport in a Respectable answer to Lanny -- Rocky Watson, 17:58:59 02/28/08 Thu (NoHost/146.130.110.23)
Lanny, I appreciate the post I think it is good that we shed light on our ideas of the future of Airport. In discussions with Dave, Mike G, and others, we have meshed on one view to achieve at Airport. The future goal is an "open" class. By open our view is bring your car and any motor and run at Airport. I think once we enter the realm of weighting and we fine tune it, we can achieve the perfect mix of stock to outlaw motor class cars that will allow anyone to compete and take the money so to speak. The any car any motor future will allow the growth we need to achieve at Airport.
I have communicated with many different drivers that will be coming to Airport and there will be big R6s and 636's here. We hope to achieve a close competive class that allows lighter weighted stock engines to compete, beat and win against heavier cars.
This is by no means the opening of a mass argument, just a combined opinion of those working hard to take Aiport to the next level.

- Buying a 636 -- Lanny, 13:32:27 02/28/08 Thu (d043.v53.ksa.wbsnet.net/204.120.195.43)
Rocky, I see you are looking for a 636. You might want to rethink that as I believe the original idea was to get to running 600's ONLY. I heard that Emmit Hahn is going to be running 600's ONLY and I think that is the intention of Airport Raceway. You might want to check with Dave or MIke G. first as I don't want to step on any toes.

I was curious, the cars that are classified as multi, will they have to add weight due to the extra motor work, motec and the extra horses. I run the A-class and feel that is an advantage for those guys. Would appreciate it if this idea is brought up to the track officials.
Let's race
Thank you,

Fellow racers, must of you know i'm not from garden city so if you can help us it would be great. If you know anyone on the chamber board or beef empire board please promote the following. I sent this email to the empire board as we begin to work on the schedule. A nice Beef Empire Race would be great on May 30/June 1. Help us get together!
Dear Empire Board,
We here at the Garden City Airport Raceway would like to see what we can do to be a part of the Beef Empire Days, much like the Dodge City Raceway is a big big part of Dodge City Days. We would like to run a “Beef Empire Days Race” the weekend before your Rodeo and then have no races on your Rodeo weekend. We have sponsorship deals with the Garden City Telegram and the Western Kansas Broadcast Network and would love to be a part of your total promotion.
Feel free to call me at 620-369-0062. I really think if we could work together on this it would be great for Beef Empire and for Garden City. The Airport Raceway might be smaller than the Dodge City Raceway but with a little promotion it can be as good if not better, we know the racing is!

This is a real strong and dependable A class motor that includes a modified oil pan and pickup, cut down wiring harness, cdi box, rectifier, crankcase saver, kinser air filter system, and alcohol carbs. I also have a spare set of gas carbs, crank, head, and a set of rods and pistons that came from a motor with only six hundred miles on it, so they are practically new. $800 for the motor and $1,000 with all spare parts, all reasonable offers will be considered. I would like to make it official that we will be producing a new generation of the SHERPA Jr. Sprint Chassis that is currently ran at Airport Raceway in Garden City. It will be the SNIPER Chassis. My father and I have started working to build 5 cars as of right now with 10 in the plans. We are currently taking orders for the cars, parts and accessories. We are going to make all the components of the Sniper Chassis to interchange with the SHERPA cars. Cost of the cars are going to be right around $4000. That will include a rolling chassis, tires, wheels, wing, and body. No paint or powdercoat and no motor! I also will have the option of the above, single color paint and powdercoat $4500, Custom painted body and wing $5000, and I have a good source of motors that I can get you hooked up with if need be. We are also going to ask that half be paid in advance and half on delivery! We will also offer a 10% discount if paid in advance on a $4000 roller. Thats a $400 savings! I will have a complete parts selection and pricing as soon as we get the first car finished. Feel free to call or email with questions or comments!
Thanks

1. Ryan thanks for coming on and showing interest.
2. Be open and nice about everything on the forum there are many people who don't like these racing forums because they seem to lead to black eyes instead of helping everyone communicate like they are intented to do.
3. Patience, it's December and you've come in an put your name in the ring for wanting to be a part of this, give everyone time to think about where these cars are and to call friends and buddys looking for them.
4. Alternatives, we do have one car that running with us that is a pavement quarter midget and it runs great, topeka and tulsa and the front range of colorado have many cars for sale. What aboue QRC cars?
5. The future of this class probably is kidwell/bailey/pmp jr sprints but give us time to get there, and to get over the investment we all just made in the cars we have.
We welcome you and want your kids racing, lets use the next couple of months to help you and the others find these cars.

THERE SEEMS TO BE QUITE A BIT OF INTEREST IN THE JR.S BUT WE NEED CARS DONT WE .........IF WE CANT FIND ANY WHAT CAN WE DO THEN ...............DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO CAN MAKE NEW ONES OR DOES MAKE THEM ....IM SURE SOME OF US WOULD EVEN DO THAT .............

- Jr. Sprints -- Dave Frazer, 21:38:57 12/15/07 Sat (ip68-103-34-243.ks.ok.cox.net/68.103.34.243)
Mr. Hill - I'm sorry that you feel the way you do about Jr. Sprint racing at Airport Raceway. I think it has been a great start to a sorely missed part our raceway family. An addition that's very importat to the future of the raceway.
The reason we even have Jr's at the racewy is one man's desire to see his son race and have fun. Thanks to Rocky Watson for his hard work.
The Sherpa chassis that Rocky Watson, Chad Boone, Chris Moore, Butch Leiker and everyone else runs are the mainstay. Why would we make 99% change to satisfy one percent. Rocky and I will help you all we can to locate a chassis if that is your choice. Your other choice is to buy a suspended car and convince 5 others to do the same and then start a class of suspended cars much the same way that Mr. Watson did. (6 cars are requirement)
Suspended Jr's may be the future and the availibilty is certainly a plus, but for now it's run what we have.
Airport Raceway is interested in and will help promote all classes. Call me with questions or comments anytime.

no one seems to know where any of these cars are.......ive looked for a week every night myself....cant find any...if u cant find any to race the class cant grow can it ..... therefore if a kidwell or bailie or something thas has suspension is availavle why not let them run.....acording to the one who responded to my last message he says the carts he has gets to run at the shootout and he thinks aparently are competative.....so why not let em run......oh and as far as u being rude .. i could care less what u think of me and if u only got 5000 in your 600 you got in cheap .. way cheap if u dont know me ive ran these cars in multi,a,and nonwing and i am one of the only ones who has race the shootout from around here so i do think i know a little about this.....i am not knocking the class i have a 6 year old son who wants to get into it on our off weekends of racing myself....all i am saying is why cant these cars run if u yourself say yours is competative why not let these cars run /////////does anyone object ????????????????????+

ok so let me understand this.....no suspension .......so basicly what u are saying its not a jr sprint class its a go cart class with a a cage ....never mind i wont be there .........this will do no one no good to try to get their kids into racing but a simple go cart play thing ...it wont help kids or partents in setting cars up for later if they want to run restrictors or 600 even to go to full springs they might as well go to a local go cart track .............................if anyone want s to run a kidwelll or baileys and advance over a go cart let me know and im in .........

- 2000 ZX-6R Motor -- Skyler Wissman, 17:32:18 11/15/07 Thu (p103n18.ruraltel.net/24.225.18.103)
I have a 2000 ZX-6R motor that has 12 races on it since being freshened. This is a real strong and dependable A class motor that includes a modified oil pan and pickup, cut down wiring harness, cdi box, rectifier, crankcase saver, kinser air filter system, and alcohol carbs. All work has been done by Mike Gigot. I also have a spare set of gas carbs, crank, head, and a set of rods and pistons that came from a motor with only six hundred miles on it, so they are practically new. $1,000 for the motor and $1,200 with all spare parts, all reasonable offers will be considered. If interested you can contact me at skyhodown_347@hotmail.com or call (620) 786-0843.
