Joseph, that was one hell of a story or litany as you (aptly?) stated !!! You seem to have been very busy indeed !!!
Am so sorry about your loss. My father’s 1st death anniversary is forthcoming and I still can’t help feeling the ache and loss… It reminds us of our very own mortality…
Anyway, I attended the meeting of our batchmates or shall I say classmates (my grandmother always corrects me whenever she hears me mentioning reunion of batchmates… Apparently, the entire SNHS batch 1982 should be appropriately called class of 1982… but we got used to using the term batch instead of class and class instead of section …) and since no one has posted the outcome of said meeting, perhaps it would be nice to share what transpired during the meeting…
More or less 30 classmates attended the traditional SNHS parade. Class 1982 has its own banner and motorcade. We also have our own printed shirts with the logo “NABALIK INI” and an inverted “21” superimposed on it. See how time flies!!! It’s been 21 years since we graduated from high school !!! Yet, whenever we attend our class reunions, it would seem that we are transported in time and we are back when we were in high school then. The parade as a whole seemed to be short and only a few attended the reunion. Topet and I joined the parade when it passed Sampaloc on its way back to SNHS. We gathered at the football field/ball ground (I forgot how we used to call it). The sun was high as it was almost noon. The wind, once in a while, blew the dust particles right into our faces!!! There was a stage infront of (the late?) Ms. Loilo’s room stretching perhaps up to Mr. Zamora’s room where we had our Laura at Balagtas and Practical Arts lessons, respectively. The stage was facing SCAT. After some refreshments, ibos from Gagay Yap and picture taking, we proceeded to Mrs. Celerina Donor’s house in Gate 1, Bibincahan. We ate lunch and elected the officers for our class. I was also busy talking with classmates, taking pictures, etc. that the election seems to be a blur to me. HA HA HA !!! In other words, I wasn’t paying much attention !!! mea culpa !!! From what I can recall, at first there was an election but this eventually lead to mere appointments and there were no more nominations or votes being cast!!! Here’a run down of the officers:
President : Noli Lustestica
Vice President for Sorsogon Crisanto Duana (??? Am not so sure about this)
Vice President for Manila: Antonio Ayo, Jr.
Vice President for Abroad: Arlene Mirandilla-Escalante
Secretary : Jennifer Jubilo-Asuncion
(I suggested an Assistant Secretary in the person of Livia
Adame but am not sure whether one was elected or
appointed)
Treasurer : Francisco Corcuera
PRO for Sorsogon Livia Adame and Paul Advincula
PRO for Manila Bernadette Donor-Catabijan
