The sky was tainted with a pale rosy complexion, the hazy cirrus drifting idly across it. The gentle patter of rain fell swiftly and gradually gathering speed as it sought vengence upon the earth, hissing as it touched it, then seemingly melting into the damp soil. The fragile and flimsy plants cowered in fright of the torrent, yet reached out to absorb it’s goodness from the earth in which they were forever bound. The dew gathered on the leathery leaves, the intricate thing bending with the weight, then letting it flow off, gaining it’s upright stature once more. The trees groaned and swayed madly in their haste, for the enriching droplets were soon falling only in fitful showers now, the downpour almost over. The animals that had remained concealed within their shelters, cautiously crept out once more, twitching noses feeling the change in the atmosphere around them.

My life had taken a sudden turn for the worst, for the road I had traveled was as of yet, long and hard, and my very soul felt weary. My limbs sought the worn path with each heavy footfall, dragging along with the weariness that overcame me. I fall with a sense of relief, yet I feel my jaw connect with solid ground, with a blinding pain. In I daze I try to get to my feet, and stumble onto the ground again. I lay in a bundled heap, sleep coming over me at once. The atmosphere had changed, the rain gently refreshing me, and I wake, gingerly opening my weary eyes to look upon the hazy curtain of rain falling around me. I blink slightly, and lay my head down to rest once more, for now I could give in to all my worries, all the longing in my heart. I could fall asleep and never wake, my cage now empty I drift into a dazed darkness.
