I'm happy to be out of the land of property tax on cars. When I lived in Connecticut, this was always a problem, especially because the assessments were based on state wide blue book values, but the rate on the town's overall rate. What this meant was that, since I lived in a town with a rather poor tax base, I paid often twice what people 5 miles away, in the rich town across the river, were paying for the same car!

Of course here in Vermont we get income tax and sales tax and just about every other kind of tax, so I suppose it's a wash in the end.

I think Jarlaxle is in eastern Mass.

Times do change, though. Last year I retired one of my Jeep Cherokees, and replaced it with a Ford Focus wagon. 32 mpg without taking extra care. It's hard to argue with that.
