The event has already started when I call them, just not in their time zone. It's not my fault that they choose to live in a sub-par time zone that is so far behind the rest of the world. :)

Isn't that just like Americans - showing up late to the party then complaining about the insensitivity of the rest of the world starting and not waiting for them. :)
