Trent, I should admit that I'm not completely objective here myself, as I consider Rhonda Wilcox a friend, but it seems a bit harsh to say that reading a person's book--something that represents years of their work to write and prepare--is a "waste of time" and that the author is "a moron" who "does not matter" just because you disagree with some of her interpretations?

You're unhappy because Wilcox seems to ignore elements of Riley's character development that would show him as more than "the best incarnation" of patriarchy, but be fair--the essay is not about Riley, it's about Buffy 4.10 "Hush". She also doesn't go into detail about what happens to Willow & Tara in season six, the death of Anya, or how Buffy will deal with Spike in seasons six and seven (aside from a brief mention of "the end of the series").

Of course people are going to disagree with each other's interpretations. Go on and write an essay in which you demonstrate how and where Wilcox's interpretations of Riley and/or Ron Weasley are mistaken or incomplete, but also show that you've understood the context of the original essays and don't attack her personally. She's a fellow fan, too.
