I agree that Buffy would have killed Gigi if she could, and I don't think we could blame her if she did - since Gigi obviously intends to kill her. I also think that Roden would have killed Buffy (or at least tried to) if Faith hadn't intervened. So I think you're right - Faith actually saved at least one life, and may have saved both.

I'm not sure what Giles' real intentions are; his behavior throughout this arc has struck me as a little bit off. It's possible or even likely that he doesn't actually know what Gigi and Roden are up to: if he knew their target was Buffy, why wouldn't he warn Buffy of the threat ? Otoh, if he didn't know what he was dealing with, wouldn't a recon have been a more reasonable response than murder ? Either way, his conduct seems a bit strange.

In the end, unless someone finds a way to contain or rehabilitate Gigi (as I mentioned above, I don't think she's entirely responsible, because she's not entirely sane), she'll have to be killed. I think Faith will be the one to do it; the theme of this arc seems to be "Faith gets stuck with the dirty jobs" and this is about as dirty as it gets.
